WHO IS WOLE DSB AND WHEN DID YOU START MUSIC?
I am Oluwaferanmi Tolulope Oduwole aka Wole DSB, DSB is acronyms for [Don’t Stop Believing]. I was born in Lagos to the humble family of Mr. & Mrs. Oduwole. I started singing at age 16 while am in School. Initially I started as a fuji artiste it was quite challenging for me being a student and also an artiste. Basically I was influenced by 9ice because I do listen to his songs and I’ve performed in a various shows which mostly are without pay.
I’ve also featured in events with the big names in the music industry. i started as a recording artiste in 2007 when I recorded my first song titled: Let Me Be Your King. I subsequently recorded 10 tracks album which was released in 2008 titled: “Don’t Give Up”. This was just a stint that earned me a remarkable deal of encouragement and recognition from family, fans and other artistes. In 2009 I came up with the hot single “Aiye Oba” produced by one of Nigeria’s celebrated music icons K Solo.
I’ve done some domestic job though to earn me money for my musical plans gone are the days when I was a gateman and I also hawk coconut in the remote area of lekki, Lagos things was quite though in those years but we thank God where we are today. In 2013 I got signed to MME Mighty Man Entertainment after I joined them I released another stunning jam titled: “Take Over Produced & Mastered by Kid Konnect the video was shot by Sammy Joe at Clear View Media. Late 2015 I released one of the most anticipated song titled: Hold Belle [Produced by Blaze z xclusive].
HOW DID YOU COME WITH THE NAME WOLE DSB?Well it’s a long story though but I can still share it with you guys! Wole is the short form of my surname ODUWOLE, and I got the DSB when something terrible actually happened. I remember vividly the year DAVIDO came out with DAMI DURO after then I went to his place to meet with him for support of my career since we are both in the same game. Though I and my Dad some years back has once worked with his family his dad precisely. Then I was still in school and whenever I come for holiday I do go with my Dad to their house and then he was quite young and I use to see him very well but I never knew he will become an artiste, So after a couple of years I heard the song by DAVIDO Back When featuring Neato’C I was now wondering which Davido it was until I heard about his surname David Adeleke before I knew he was the one people are actually taking about. So afterwards I do go to his house where he stays after he became a celebrity but never once met him till this wonderful day when one of his Dad security called me that DAVIDO is around that I should make it snappy so I can meet him, so I rush down when I got to his gate I waited for so long before he eventually came out and I went to meet him in his compound and talk to him about what am into and my plan.
He didn’t even recognize me though so I got to explain to him that I’ve work with his Dad and he was like when was that & what year? So I told him everything and he said ok….he now said I should play him my song so I brought my phone out and I played one of my song, he collected my phone and when he was listening he asked who produce the song and I told him K-Solo and he was like is it Timaya’s producer I said yes it is…..
So he was still listening to the song when B-Red came with one puppy dog, and there were two security men in the compound staring at us when I was discussing with DAVIDO… So immediately B-Red came he was now chasing those securities with the dog in the compound. though they were playing, but immediately DAVIDO sees them he now gave me back my phone and ran after them, so I sat down hoping he will come back I waited for sometimes I didn’t see him not quite long B-Red now came to me and said who are you waiting for? I replied him that am waiting for DAVIDO.
The next thing he will say was that I should leave the premises I didn’t even mind him so he was now raising his voice and change his face angrily he was now like changing it for me, so the security guys now came and told me to go, on my way going out one of the security man told me don’t worry guy your own time is coming Just leave them it is their own time be strong man…I walked out and I told him thank you I was almost in tears though. So when I got home I thought about it severally and I was kind of disappointed so I couldn’t share it with anyone and I say to myself that I will never give up no matter what. So that’s just how DSB was attached to my stage name.

WE NOTICE THAT SINCE YOUR PREVIOUS SUCCESSFUL SINGLE, HOLD BELLE YOU HASN’T DROP ANY SONGS, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN & WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?
First of all I will like to thank God for the gift of life and also to appreciate him for where I am today & where am gonna be tomorrow. Well I have been running things underground though, running some business and also to make sure I satisfy my fans at the end of the day. Sincerely I’ve been asked same question by some of my adorable fans on social media. Basically we all know what’s going on in the music industry at the moment beefing, stealing of songs, fighting & some stuffs like that. Apparently social media are busy for all of this rubbish and that’s where people’s attentions are right now and if you use your precious time to release song now, you might probably not get a listening attention and one has to take his/her time to make a good music, to me I don’t just sing, first of all I looked at what’s happening in the industry and what kind of song is trending, what kind of beat people are dancing to, before I decide on what to sing for my people. As an artiste you don’t just do song for your own satisfaction you have to consider your fans too, and people that will buy your song So you need to take your time and come out with something reasonable.
YOU JUST MENTIONED IT THAT THE DRAMA IN THE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW IS RUBBISH. WHAT PROMPT THE COMMENT?
I repeat it again its total rubbish. Honesty I still don’t understand why some people are behaving in that manner after song might have trend for couple of years some people will just raise from nowhere and claim the song that the song belong to them. My question is where were you and where did you keep your song before they stole it? It’s logical. Anyway I don’t want to get myself involved in this.
HAS WOLE DSB QUIT MUSIC FOR BLOGGING?
Laughing…Oh my God where are all those questions coming from????? This is ridiculous & kind of funny well am not really surprised though because I knew people might have been thinking different things due to my absence in the music scene. Let’s be realistic here am not leaving music for blogging and I can never do such because music is something I love to do and have so much passion for and is gonna be so difficult for me to do that because music gives me joy.
Well I have a blog but I am not the one managing it, I have admin and someone that run it for me. Having all other business aside the music people know me for is not a bad thing, and I still have other businesses that I run aside from music and am not leaving one for one Just that money must be made…[laughing] so please my adorable fans am still your favorite artiste you know and am not leaving music for blogging o…BIKO O.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC STAR AND WHO INSPIRE YOUR KIND OF MUSIC?
Well! God is the source of my inspiration and at times I am inspired by the things around me. You know Wole DSB is strictly from the street I mean straight from the ghetto and you all know how though, Rough the ghetto is, many things happen and you will always see things that will surprise you every day and if you are wise enough you will definitely see things that will inspire you to do whatever you wish to do. Basically I listened to most of Naija & Foreign songs and they are really doing well but my favorite artistes still remain 9ice & Chris Brown.
NOW WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR, WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR 2016?
2016 is going to be great for me despite the challenges and the tough time I have been through am still gonna be doing my thing and this time with something different. I will be releasing many singles back to back and I will also drop an EP before the year runs out by God grace. Basically I’ve been in the studio with one of the baddest producer I mean the magic finger himself ‘’BLAZE Z XLUSIVE’’ and you know what it is when Blaze Z is on the beat and when Wole DSB grab the microphone definitely something good will come out. And we are both working on some hits songs. Hopefully I will drop two tracks by July you guys should watch out.
