The brain behind the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Peace Anyiam Osigwe is not happy with the way Nigerians reacted to the power outage experienced during the just concluded 2016 AMAA awards.
During the 12th AMAA award held on June 11 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, there was blackout for about 15 minutes. Seated in the venue among other celebrities and guest from across Africa and beyond was Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture and the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike.
Peace said that contrary to people’s believe that the event was supplied light by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, it was actually powered by generators but something drastic happened along the line which she explained. She also seized the opportunity to shower praises on Kingsley Ogoro who was the leader of the technical team of 2016 AMAA for a job well done.
Read her reaction below:
“ My brother my friend, my Mr Technical, The Transmission did not do justice to your work and our team, as we place it on other platforms maybe Just maybe the real sincere people will value the work you do. And as all of you scream NEPA, Please how daft are you to imagine we would power an event on NEPA, It was 850KVa Generator and. Back up Generator plus beautiful Torrential rain, with beautiful thunder storms and lightning. So when a Generator blows in a middle of torrential rain, you risk lives to reconnect? Sir K ,Kingsley Ogoro. May baba God Bless mucho,my amigo .15 minutes down time and no lives lost.”
