The Kaduna state governor has given 30 female students in the state scholarship awards to study medical courses in Uganda.
PMNews reports that the commissioner for education, Dr Shehu Adamu, said in a statement in Kaduna earlier today, January 12, that the students would depart for Uganda before the end of January.
According to the education minister, the aim was to encourage girl-child education by enhancing access to educational opportunities.
He also announced that all teachers on deputy director level serving outside classrooms must return to classes before being promoted as director henceforth. He said the policy, which came into effect from January 1, was to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.
The commissioner stressed that such personnel must also sit for promotion examination before their elevation.
