Kristina Antoniades, 35, her partner Merrin Hicks and their daughter Lily were travelling from Brisbane to Melbourne when the ‘humiliating’ scene unfolded on Monday.
Staff repeatedly asked Kristina why her and her partner wouldn’t make room for the married couple.
She was reduced to tears and has written an emotional Facebook post to raise awareness of homophobia.
(Picture: Facebook) Kristina said shortly before take-off Merrin was called over by customer services.
Staff said that they had made the decision to move Merrin to another seat to make way for another couple.
‘They did not acknowledge that we’re a family and wanted to sit together,’ said Kristina.
She explained they are a family but after take-off an air steward asked again why they had not moved.
She continued: ‘She did not offer me an apology. I was in tears.’
